Sunflower and Purple Cabbage
This print was created using a locally grown Sunflower. The petals were removed, and the disk shaved and placed for pressing. Adding purple cabbage to the boil brought out the deep green that I hadn't seen in other boils. Yellow, gold and charcoal were added using watercolors and pan Pastels.
Eucalyptus, Alum and Rusty Nails
This print was created by pressing and boiling eucalyptus with alum and rusty nails. The rusty nails help bring out an interesting background. Touches of yellow and black were added using watercolor and pan pastels.
Sword Fern, Alum and Rusty Nails
This print was created using a Sword Fern that I found in the woods behind my house. Together with the alum and rusty nails, it produced the mottled background of burnt orange and gray. The green, black, and dark gray were added using watercolor and pan pastels.
Leather Leaf Fern, Sunflowers, and Purple Cabbage
This print was created by removing and placing the petals around the shaved disk from the blossom. I tucked in the fern to add a little interest. Adding purple cabbage to the boil brought out the earthy green while the iron in the fern accented with an amazing reddish brown. Yellow and orange were added using watercolor and pan pastels.
Sword Fern and Alum
This simple but elegant Sword Fern was created by adding alum to the boil. The delicate gray was drawn out by the addition of the alum while the soft green was added using watercolor and pan pastels.
Queen Anne's Lace, Vinegar, and Rusty Nails
Queen Anne's Lace never looked so bold. This lacy beauty on the side of the road was calling my name. The vinegar and rusty nails created this wonderfully abstract background. I couldn't help myself. I just had to add the purple for a little punch of color. The yellow and white were also added with watercolor and pan pastels.
